Considered part of the Albuquerque metro area, Cedar Crest is a historic community in its own right. You'll find Cedar Crest homes consist  largely of acreages (most are around .5 acres), which is in keeping with its historically rural roots. The community is situated on what's known as the Turquoise Trail, which connects the villages of Tijeras, Cedar Crest, Sandia Park, Golden, Madrid and Cerrillos. Following the trail leads to some pretty cool places like the Cedar Crest Museum of Archaeology and Material Culture. There are also neat roadside stops like Ross Ward's amazing collection of miniature wood-carved figures and wacky western memorabilia.

When you discover Cedar Crest acreages, you'll discover the area isn't that far from key amenities. The McLeod Medical Center is just off Hwy. 14, as is the Pineridge Urgent Care facility. The Triangle grocery is also right there as well. Cedar Crest boasts several good restaurants and a couple of places to whet your whistle.

Residents take advantage of the many hiking trails at the foot of Sandia Mountains, which also a great place for horseback riding. There is also skiing and snowboarding at Sandia Peak Ski Area, which is a great spot for beginners and advanced skiers. The area also has cross country ski trails.

For schools in Cedar Crest, kids can got to A. Montoya or San Antonito Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School, Manzano high or Alternate East Mountain High School.
