Rio Rancho is situated in a beautiful part of New Mexico - located to the northwest of the Albuquerque metro area - and the views of the Sandia Mountains are stunning. Many homes are within neighborhoods offering panoramic views with alluring southwest landscapes. Homes, condos and townhomes tend to reflect a Spanish flavor and style in their architecture, echoing the New Mexico landscape. There are half-acre ranchettes and golf course condos, but the housing landscape is dominated by single-family homes.

People find it a great place to live because there are several large employers in Rio Rancho, including Intel and Hewlett-Packard. The University of New Mexico opened a West branch campus in Rio Rancho and construction of the Central New Mexico Community College is finished.

There are also plenty of restaurants featuring everything from Mexican to Indian cuisine. Rio Rancho also has great health care services and facilities including the new Presbyterian Rust Hospital, which opened in 2011. The UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center also offers complete medical care.

Rio Rancho Amenities and Schools

Rio Rancho is a perfect-sized city and includes three post offices along with several libraries. The Santa Ana Star Center features concerts and other live performances, and is the home of the New Mexico Stars, Rio Rancho's professional arena football team.

Since 1994 Rio Rancho has had it's own school district. It now boasts several preschools, ten elementary schools, four middle schools and four full or alternative high schools. Rio Rancho High School and V. Sue Cleveland High school are the two major senior facilities and both are well-rated. Both high schools use academies to provide students with theme-based classes. In addition, Rio Rancho also has several private Christian schools, all of which feature outstanding student/teacher ratios.
